On September 1, 2020, the GTHL released their “Game Plan – Return to Hockey Strategy Guidelines” which applies to teams playing House League and North York Hockey League (“NYHL”) Select. The document outlines in detail how the Don Mills Civitan Hockey League (DMCHL) can safely return to on-ice hockey activities for our community while adhering to COVID-19 Return to Sport Guidelines. Don Mills Civitan will adhere to all of these requirements as well as the City of Toronto’s COVID-19 guidelines. You can read the GTHL’s guidelines by clicking on the link below:
The focus for the upcoming 2020/21 season will be to get kids back to playing hockey in a safe environment. Hockey will look different this year, particularly at the beginning of the season. There will be a greater focus on development and the rules of the game will be different to limit physical contact (e.g., no face-offs). The number of players on each team will be limited to comply with the GTHL’s cohort requirements. We plan to start the season the week after Thanksgiving as usual, subject to public health requirements.
Allocation of players to House League will start shortly. In order to be considered for one of our House League teams, a player will be required to be registered in our house league system and pay the associated house league fee when that becomes payable. Please register now to secure your player’s spot.
There are many new requirements, but the Don Mills Civitan Hockey team is working through them. We ask for your patience as we incorporate these requirements into planning our DMCHL season. We will be communicating more details soon.
